Throw Darts’ 2025 Grand Slam Preview

The Grand Slam of Darts is back…

…and we couldn’t be more excited here at Throw Darts. Taking place at WV Active Aldersley in Wolverhampton from November 8th to 16th, this unique tournament mixes group-stage tension with knockout drama and always delivers a few surprises along the way.

Now in its 19th edition, the Grand Slam has grown from a cross-code showdown between the PDC and BDO into one of the PDC’s most entertaining ranking events. Featuring 32 of the world’s top players, including defending champion Luke Littler, world number one Luke Humphries and former winners Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price and Michael Smith, it promises another week of darting brilliance.

A quick look back

Since its debut in 2007, the Grand Slam has been known for producing memorable matches and career-defining moments. From Scott Waites’ incredible comeback win in 2010 to Gerwyn Price’s fiery breakthrough in 2018, the tournament’s blend of styles and stories has always made it a fan favourite.

With the group stage offering little margin for error — best of nine legs before switching to longer knockout formats — even the biggest names can find themselves on the wrong end of an upset. That’s part of what makes the Grand Slam so special.
